“For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.”
I set out to explore the statement, “For every action (force) in nature there is an equal and opposite reaction.” – Sir Isaac Newton.
Using the small space provided and the raw material clay. I set out to explore and observe the outcomes that result from providing participants (people who book in to view the Gallery.) with the opportunity to use the clay provided. There were instructions given to participants in the form of the poem entitled “The Ritual.”
The Ritual.
You are invited to make a small ball from the slab of clay provided.
You are invited to think of a thought.
You are invited to find a space close by or far away from where you obtained the clay.
You are invited to think the thought you have set aside, when you have an appropriate space to throw your ball.
You are invited to throw the clay ball at a hard surface, while thinking the thought you set aside.
You are invited to let go of that thought at the same time you throw the ball of clay.
You are invited to return the ball of clay to the box.
You are invited to return the ball to the box as you found it, or as it was after you had thrown it.
You are invited to photograph the ball at any stage with your cell phone, for personal or public use.
You are invited to let go of that thought.
You are invited to let go of this ball of clay.
You are welcome to keep your ball of clay as an afterthought of our engagement.
You are welcome to return your ball of clay to the space it came from.
You are welcome to contemplate your experience.
You are welcome to share your experience with others and myself.
